I love this quote simply because my own life’s posts looks like something built for a rambling ranch but still I move forward.
“A true soldier fights not out of hatred for those ahead of him, but out of love for those behind him.” C.K. Chesterton
It can be difficult to feel like you are the only one plowing a hard road but surely love keeps propelling me forward into a great unknown. I have the word of my “Father” that despite what I cannot see, it is all worth the battle. I know intuitively I am not alone either, despite what my feelings are telling me.
When I keep my eyes focused upon the big guy I have no need for worry or fear.
2 Chron 20:17 “You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you…”
Psalm 45 My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
What have we all to share with each other except what flows from within our hearts? Therefore it’s so very important to pour into ourselves the life giving word of our King so that we may pour it back out.
Plato once said, “He who is not a good servant will not be a good master.”
When one contemplates the cost of being a good servant you realize that you have to be willing to give up all your own desires before you can truly be free to serve.
“Like a bell tolling from another world, Jesus’ promise of rewards proclaims that no matter how things appear, there is no future in evil, only in good.” Philip Yancey
Friends are a much needed commodity, especially good ones. You know the emails, “true friends would help you move a body”. I am not in need of moving any physical bodies but my hopes for a change of heart and renewing of spirit surely would be a great thing. I had a good friend vent on me yesterday and I have to say it made me grin.
The “old me” would have probably told my friend to take a hike but the “new me” just listened with love and understanding. I don’t have words of wisdom for the problem but I don’t think I am supposed to for this instance.
James 1:19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry
Juicy gossip just makes our ears perk up don’t it? Now I know the rest of the world wants to know who is seeing who and all the tragedies going on in the lives of others. My juicy gossip is for the one who owns my heart.
Mal 3:16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and meditate on His name.
Stevie Wonder sang a song while he was just a pup with the words, “Clap your hands just a little bit louder” and this morning I did just that. It felt awesome to shout into the air the greatness of our King!
Psalm 47:1-2 Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth!
Listening to a talk this weekend I was moved by something quoted from a blind woman who had real vision!
“Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all—the apathy of human beings.” Helen Keller
Definition of apathy: a state of indifference — where an individual has an absence of interest or concern to certain aspects of emotional, social, or physical life.
