He reached for my hand and I could feel his fingers intertwine with mine. It might be just another day, but when I paid attention, I remembered to absorb how special these moments could be. We had a chore to accomplish and he willingly met me to get it done together. I liked listening to him when he chose to talk. He could make me laugh often. He could make me smile lots.
Do We Really Know?
He was a man of the church, zealous and devout in his beliefs. He was educated in theology and knew his bible inside out. Saul even went to a high priest of his church asking permission to continue persecuting other believers he felt were spreading false teaching. This permission was given. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” Acts 9:4-5a
This is a wonderful lesson in how we can know our word but still not know our Lord Jesus. Even our leaders can stumble in this area. We can be religious without ever being the love we are meant to be.
Who Are You Praying For?
I can only wonder at the outcome of those I pray for?….. The young man had no arm but he lifted his stump freely. His empty white sleeve waved like some kind of flag. At some point he shook my hand and offered a genuine smile. Later I heard his story and hope embraced my heart again. His story was that of “drug dealer and player”. He died in a car accident and experienced hell, but also encountered Jesus’ hope. He was given grace to come back to life, to share his testimony. This encounter changed his life as he had known it. I rejoice with this young man for reasons personal to my own heart.
When I heard him speak, someone asked him a pertinent question, “who prayed for you?” He responded that it had been a grandparent…who are you praying for?
Something Of Worth
Time is precious. The value of this currency often gets lost among media pressures to spend it. None of us knows the number of days within our banks. Do we have more or do we have less? If we knew, would we spend it differently? Confronting this thought on a regular basis, we can make each day count for something of worth.
In His People
You were spotted when you came out of hiding. Your poison you wanted to infect us with. Your restrictions you wanted to exert over freedoms. Your tricks have not changed from times of old. You still try to use sickness, disease, religion and fear to control hearts. A bitterness you tried to bring but it was not received. Even when you tried to disguise yourself in light, you were exposed to the true light of love. You have met Jesus in His people.
Joh 4:23-24 “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Shadow Of Turning
I live in a world where black and white fight to exist and it often bleeds into gray; a world where shadows exist. Righteousness battles wickedness; and the lines blur for those who lose their way. A compromised heart begins to say navigation is possible in shady places.
We must fly above these lies. We must fly through clouds of obscurity…
Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Love Story Written On My Heart
I hurried to be here again; this place of wonder, this place of awe. I close my eyes to the world around me and I come once more into His chambers. I lower myself to sit at the feet of the One I love. Getting out my pen I wait for His words to pour out. Love begins to flood my heart. Love beyond measure. Love beyond understanding. I write what I am meant to. Now it’s time to lay down my pen. What I hear is for me alone and it’s a love story. This love story is not written with ink. It’s a love story being written upon my heart.
Can I Let Go?
I hear a nagging question coming into my soul? It’s always been there but now the volume is being turned up. I can’t dismiss its voice. Can I give away everything and everyone I love? Can I let go of anything that may have too much of a hold upon my heart?
There can be only one answer….”YES”….
Son 8:6 (GNB) Close your heart to every love but mine; hold no one in your arms but me. Love is as powerful as death; passion is as strong as death itself. It bursts into flame and burns like a raging fire.
Water Highway
She treaded water while looking upward into the night’s sky. The stars were so bright out here where she seemed to be floating alone. A sense of companionship enveloped her, a company beyond her vision. The water was her friend. It carried her weight. It fed her thirst. As she lay in its depth she could hear its voice singing in her ears.
A sound was emerging, a building wave coming to her place of quietness. She could feel herself rising higher in these waters, being rushed along a path laid out before her. A new road began to form in this water, it looked like a highway. Looking down she realized her feet now rested atop the wave, she was walking on this water highway…
Water For Daniel
You open my eyes to see the beauty of Daniel who sits in his wheelchair at the grocery parking lot. I can’t read his sign, but his smile prods me to want to talk to him. Instead, I keep on driving. You whisper he is worth making time for. I don’t argue, but I wonder what I am to do while driving home. Water keeps coming to mind. I drop off the groceries knowing I am going back. I take bottled water with me.
Getting back to where Daniel is, I bring some water and sit it next to him without saying anything about it. We begin to talk and his smile is lovely. His speech is not clear; I lean down closer to listen. I respond to You asking me to look him in the eyes and let him see my own by taking off my sunglasses. Daniel knows his name is that of a prophet and says he knows the Lord. He thinks he is here for money and I share, “the gift I have is better”. He grins and points his finger upward saying “the Lord”! We laugh together and he shares briefly his thoughts about knowing the word and how he believes his Koran. He speaks to say Jesus is a prophet, high priest and king of kings, making me laugh in love.
Daniel allows me to touch his shoulder, praying healing and deliverance over him in Jesus’ name. I give him what I have in funds to share, asking him if he needs water? His response is about how important water is to him. I get another bottle from my car and tell him I know he is my brother. He brings joy to my heart to call me sister, and then says something I don’t expect. “I am here to test your spirit. If you didn’t share about Jesus, I wouldn’t want nothing to do with you.” He adds about how important it is to be given hope and shakes my hand.
Father, You open my eyes to see the water You meant to share wasn’t bottled….
Joh 7:37b-38 “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
