We move in and out of our neighborhoods everyday; running errands, going to work, shopping and taking care of whatever business occupies our daily lives. Right alongside of us are those that feel “unseen”. People who drop into a survivalist mentality because they just don’t seem to function like the general population.
Talking to them one on one, so many stories are both told and untold for the reasons of their circumstances. Tragedy, loss of income, loss of family and so many other tales. I meet with wary eyes looking at me to see what my angle is? What is it I want from them? Nothing is more surprising to some than to learn I really want nothing in return for kindness or even a helping hand.
As I wandered the park, I remembered a song Chicago sang and hummed the lyric…“will you help him change the world”….I wondered what impact could be made just to love these people for who they were, right here, right now?
Matthew 25:40 (The Message) Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling you the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me–you did it to me.’
